Power Ranking the Top Stars on WWE Raw's Roster
The WWE Raw roster has more talent than it knows what to do with, and this is especially true when it comes to the main event scene.
The number of former world champions on the red brand is in double digits now, and that's only counting the WWE and Universal Championships. If we count Ring of Honor, TNA or ECW, the list is even bigger.
You would think that many top stars on one brand would be a good thing, but we often end up seeing guys who should be pursuing a championship sitting on the sidelines.
Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe are all actively pursuing Brock Lesnar's universal title while the creative team struggles to find something for everyone else to keep them busy.
On the plus side, Raw will always have a large number of people it can cycle in and out of the main event. This slideshow will rank the top male stars on the Raw roster.
Lesnar will not be included in this list because he is not a full-time performer. This will only rank those who show up every week.
5. Finn Balor
1 of 5Finn Balor was given a huge opportunity when he became the first universal champion right after debuting on the main roster, but an injury forced him to relinquish the title the next night.
He returned looking more driven, but he came back when the belt was already tied up in other storylines for the foreseeable future.
He seems to have entered a program with Elias Samson after interrupting The Drifter's song on the June 19 episode of Raw.
This feels like more a placeholder feud than an indication he is being relegated to mid-card storylines. Once the belt is off Lesnar and back in regular rotation, Balor will be a top contender again.
4. Seth Rollins
2 of 5Rollins is one of those Superstars who will always be circling the top title from whatever brand he is on at the time, but he is taking a backseat for the time being.
His storyline with Bray Wyatt will likely take up most of the summer, with a final showdown at SummerSlam being the endgame.
Wyatt has been fighting with every member of The Shield for the past few years. Even though The Shield and Wyatt Family stables are no more, it seems like The Eater of Worlds is forever linked to The Hounds of Justice.
Rollins is great in the ring and on the mic, and he still has enough time to establish himself as one of the best of all time before he reaches the age where he should consider retirement.
3. Braun Strowman
3 of 5The Monster Among Men didn't seem like anything special when he was brought in as a Wyatt Family enforcer, but ever since he went off on his own, he has been impressing everyone.
Strowman's athleticism is off the charts, especially for a man of his size. Watching him chase down a cruiserweight during one of his early singles matches was quite the intimidating sight.
A recent elbow injury halted his push, but he returned in triumphant fashion on June 19 when he burst out of the back of an ambulance and proceeded to attack Reigns.
At 33 years old, Strowman is not exactly a fresh-faced rookie, but he still has plenty of years left to dominate everyone on the WWE roster and win a few championships.
2. Samoa Joe
4 of 5Samoa Joe vs. Lesnar for the Universal Championship is the kind of dream match many fans never thought we would see. That's why it's so surprising to see management give it away on a B-level pay-per-view like Great Balls of Fire.
Joe is still new to the WWE roster, but he is anything but a rookie in the business. He has worked for well over a decade to establish himself as one of the best in the world.
He is someone who has the size and speed to match The Beast Incarnate, so their matchup shouldn't be as one-sided as most of Lesnar's fights.
Joe winning the title would be awesome, but the more likely outcome would see Lesnar retain so he can defend it against Reigns at SummerSlam.
Even if he loses, coming close against someone like Lesnar would give Joe more momentum than a thousand squash matches. He will win WWE gold eventually, but it might not be as soon as many would like.
1. Roman Reigns
5 of 5Whether you love him, hate him or feel completely indifferent, Reigns isn't going anywhere. He is The Big Dog, and WWE is his yard now.
Reigns has been embracing the heel side of his personality recently, and it has made him a much more interesting character.
He wasn't gaining any new fans by trying to be the underdog who somehow overcomes every obstacle put in front of him, but as the cocky Superstar who beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania, Reigns has become fun to watch again.
His chemistry with just about everyone makes him a valuable asset, and a great example is his recent match with Samoa Joe.
The two powerhouses were getting "This is awesome" chants, and it wasn't just because of what Joe was doing. The same people who were booing Reigns earlier in the night were appreciating his work, even if they didn't want to admit it.
The Big Dog is going to be ruling over Raw for a long time. We may as well get used to it and enjoy the carnage he produces every week.
