Triple H Responds to Carmella Winning Controversial MITB Ladder Match
Count Triple H among those who felt underwhelmed by the finish of the women's ladder match during the Money in the Bank pay-per-view Sunday night.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Triple H said James Ellsworth climbing the ladder to hand the briefcase to the eventual winner, Carmella "doesn't seem right," (h/t Cageside Seats' Gene Mrosko).
Triple H also reaffirmed his commitment to helping elevate women's wrestling in WWE.

"We're entertainment but the thing I don't want to be passed up is that our women are being given that opportunity just like the men and that's what this is all about," he said. "The world is coming to terms that women are as great, sometimes better, athletes than men and they deserve that same platform to show what they can do."
On its own, the finish of the women's MITB match wasn't all that unique, and WWE pulled a similar trick during the 2014 MITB match for a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Kane attacked Dean Ambrose and then held the ladder for Seth Rollins as he climbed to retrieve the briefcase.
The history behind Sunday's bout made the circumstances of Carmella's win feel more deflating, however.
This was the first-ever women's MITB match, giving the division an opportunity to shine in a way it never has. But rather than focusing on anything else that transpired during the match, the discussion has centered almost entirely on Ellsworth's involvement.
SmackDown Live general manager Daniel Bryan vented his frustration with the situation:
There's no question women's wrestling is more credible now than it has ever been in WWE, and that's thanks in part to the company showcasing its female stars outside of traditional singles matches.
Money in the Bank was a missed opportunity to further that improvement.
