Top Pick in 2017 MLB Draft Royce Lewis, Minnesota Twins Agree to Contract
Five days after Royce Lewis was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, the shortstop from California has agreed to a contract with the Minnesota Twins.
Per FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman, Lewis will receive a high-school record $6.725 million in his signing bonus with the Twins after he passed his physical.
The Twins made a big bet on Lewis, who is the franchise's fifth player drafted in the top 10 since 2012. He was also the first player taken No. 1 overall by the team since Joe Mauer in 2001.
