US Open Leaderboard 2017: Updated Scores and Standings from Sunday at Erin Hills

Rob BlanchetteJun 18, 2017

Brian Harman holds the lead after the third round of the 2017 U.S. Open after shooting a 67 on Saturday that brought his 54-hole score to 12-under par.

Justin Thomas made history as he shot the lowest round ever in the tournament, posting a round of 63 after a spectacular effort of nine-under.

Despite posting that record-low number, Thomas still has work to do. He enters the final round in a three-way tie for second place at 11-under par, along with Tommy Fleetwood and Brooks Koepka.

The top echelons of the leaderboard are dominated by a number of Americans, including four of the current top five, as the home golfers excel at Erin Hills.

Patrick Reed finished with a stellar 65 during the third round that brought his total score to eight-under par to keep pace with his challenging countrymen.

Thomas stunned the watching fans with his near-perfect round, taking the applause at the final hole from a rapturous crowd who appreciated his record-breaking day.

The 24-year-old prodigy hit 79 per cent of the fairways as he blitzed around the course, shooting nine birdies and an eagle on the last hole.

Bogey putts on No. 4 and No. 10 proved Thomas' round could have been even better at the end of the day, but the youngster will be delighted with his efforts.

Reed sits three shots behind Thomas in the overall standings, posting an excellent round of 65 after a disappointing day on Friday.

The player hit eight birdies during the third round, but a bogey on No. 5 stunned the start of his day.

Fellow American Russell Henley is tied with Reed on the leaderboard amongst a pack of homegrown talent on the board.

Henley finished on five-under for the day after sinking five birdies after an indifferent start.

Sergio Garcia failed to build on his opening two rounds of consistency but completed a round of 71 to remain four-under for the tournament.

There have been five players through three rounds who have shot 65 or lower, including Thomas, Reed, Rickie Fowler, Chez Reavie and Hideki Matsuyama. This leaves open the possibility for someone outside of the top five—like Reed, who is tied for seventh—to make a big move.

Harman is in the driver seat with 18 holes to play, but he's got no margin for error with Thomas, Koepka, Fleetwood and Fowler ready to make their move.
