Dusty Baker's Son Darren Selected by Nationals in 27th Round of MLB Draft
The Washington Nationals selected Darren Baker, son of manager Dusty, in the 27th round of the 2017 MLB draft on Wednesday.
Darren was made famous from a young age after San Francisco Giants first baseman J.T. Snow grabbed him at home plate in Game 5 of the 2002 World Series to avoid a possible collision:

MLB draft expert Christopher Crawford noted Darren wasn't a token selection by Washington as a result of his family connection:
Baker attends Jesuit High School in Carmichael, California, and has a committed to play for the California Golden Bears. According to MaxPreps, he averaged .396 with eight RBI and a .960 OPS as a senior.
"Recently, I've thought more and more about the draft, what's to come," Baker said in an interview with MLB.com's AJ Cassavell in February. "I'll kind of just let it take care of itself. I don't worry about it too much. I don't stress about what will happen, what won't happen. Just live in the present and move from there."
In May, Baker declined to say whether he plans on attending college or signing a pro contract. Since he was selected outside of the 10th round, Baker is slotted to receive a $125,000 bonus if he signs, with anything more than that coming out of Washington's collective bonus pool.
