Draymond Green Says It Would Be 'Very Satisfying' to Win NBA Finals in Cleveland
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said closing out the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road Friday night would be a "very satisfying" end to the 2017 NBA Finals.
Al Iannazzone of Newsday passed along remarks the outspoken defensive stalwart made Thursday about the idea of celebrating another championship in Cleveland.
"It would be very satisfying to do that," Green said. "Obviously we've won it here before. It's a good feeling. We're celebrating on their floor, celebrating in their locker room, quieting their crowd. As an athlete, one of the best feelings is going into an opponent's and enemy territory and just silencing their crowd."
Golden State, which sports an unblemished 15-0 record so far in this year's playoffs, closed out the Cavs at Quicken Loans Arena in Game 6 of the 2015 Finals.
The Warriors dominated the first two games of the third consecutive championship clash between the teams at home, winning by 22 and 19 points, respectively. The first game in Cleveland was more competitive, but a game-ending 11-0 run put the Dubs in position for the sweep.
Mental scars from blowing a 3-1 lead in last year's Finals are still evident, though. Along with Green's comments about potentially celebrating in Northeast Ohio, he also talked about trying to finish off the series as quickly as possible, per Iannazzone.
"You don't want to prolong a series and give a team more and more confidence," he said. "The opportunity is to win it here so you want to take advantage of that and try to close it out as soon as you can."
Meanwhile, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com noted Cavaliers superstar LeBron James said he isn't thinking about another possible comeback, but rather trying to maintain a "one game at a time" approach.
"My mindset is to try to get every game," he said Thursday. "Tomorrow's another important opportunity for us and for myself, obviously, to continue the series. It's been a long season, and you hate for it to end this way. So mentally and physically, I got to prepare myself for that."
Game 4 is scheduled for Friday night at 9 p.m. in Cleveland as James and Co. try to avoid the sweep on their home floor.
