Steve Kerr on Kevin Durant in NBA Finals: 'He Knows This Is His Moment'
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters Kevin Durant "knows this is his moment" after Wednesday's 118-113 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
"He took over. You could tell, he knows this is his moment," Kerr said. "He's been an amazing player in this league for a long time, and I think he senses this is his time, his moment, his team. And when I say his team, I mean it's not literally just his team. We've got a group around him that can help him create space for him in shooting and playmaking, and I think he's having the time of his life."
Durant had 31 points, eight rebounds and four assists and is likely the current favorite for Finals MVP. He knocked down a three in LeBron James' face with 45 seconds remaining that gave Golden State a 114-113 lead it would not relinquish.

Durant has scored 30-plus points in all three Finals games, boasting averages of 34.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 56.1 percent from the floor and 52.4 percent from deep. Despite near-constant heroics from James for the Cavaliers, there have been stretches where Durant has been the best player on the floor—perhaps even for a majority of the series.
Having followed somewhat in James' footsteps in signing with Golden State last summer, Durant is on his way toward exorcising his Finals demons. The former MVP is in his 10th NBA season and playing in his second Finals, the first being a dismantling by James' Miami Heat when he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2011-12.
Like James, Durant found a situation where he can maximize all of his talents. Now he's one more win away from capturing the elusive ring and seizing his so-called moment.
