WWE Extreme Rules 2017 Results: Twitter Reacts to Bayley, Top Moments and More
The Raw brand presented a pay-per-view event Sunday night brimming with such excitement that Twitter erupted with posts of praise and adulation.
OK, so WWE Extreme Rules was a show that followed the red brand's recent television product in that it was three hours of solid enough wrestling but nearly devoid compelling entertainment.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Despite the creative shortcomings, which have become synonymous with WWE's flagship show, there were still matches, moments and Superstars who had Twitter buzzing over the course of the three-hour snoozefest.
Who emerged from the Fatal 5-Way main event as the new No. 1 contender and Brock Lesnar's next victim? How did the Kendo Stick on a Pole match turn out after the putrid angle involving Alexa Bliss and Bayley on Raw?
The Twitterverse got its answer and responded accordingly.
Alexa Bliss Squashes Bayley
The Kendo Stick on a Pole match should have been the culmination of two months of frustration experienced by Bayley that manifested in the hug-loving competitor unloading on Bliss with furious vengeance.
Instead, it was a total squash on the part of Bliss, who capitalized on Bayley's hesitancy and blasted her with the kendo stick en route to retaining her title. Las Vegas Fight Shop summed it up perfectly:
Later in the evening, Bliss confidently and arrogantly took to her own account to send a message to Bayley and the WWE Universe:
Both veteran writer Scott Fishman and Hall of Fame commentator Jim Ross raved about Bliss' performance both in the match and over the last handful of months:
In the wake of the match, though, discussion across Twitter turned to the manner in which WWE Creative has utilized Bayley to this point in her main roster run.
The analysts, writers and fans who made their opinions known aren't necessarily wrong.
The Bayley we see every Monday night on Raw has lost a great deal of the charm and characteristics that once defined her. Gone are the days of the superfan, sacrificed for the opportunity to shove her head-first into the role of legitimate contender.
In the process, management lost sight of what made her special in the first place: She was just like every single person in the stands—a fan.
She was forced down the audience's throat; there was nothing organic about it. And as Justin Henry alluded to while pointing out the malfunctioning inflatable men that feature in her entrance, she was also the recipient of the Baltimore audience's jeers:
WWE Creative needs to re-evaluate what it wants to do with Bayley. If it doesn't, the best chance it has had to have a female heroine for young girls will fail, and it will have only itself to blame.
Worst of all, it runs the risk of turning the audience completely against her, a la John Cena and Roman Reigns.
Samoa Joe Earns a Chance to Conquer The Beast
The Fatal 5-Way Extreme Rules main event was a fantastic pay-per-view bout that featured thrilling high spots, creative sequences and solid booking throughout.
At the heart of the match was an alliance Samoa Joe and Bray Wyatt formed that earned early praise.
It was short-lived, as this superb tweet by WWE Universe documented:
From there, all hell broke loose, with Seth Rollins wowing the audience via a frog splash from the top rope through Wyatt and the Spanish announce table, as WWE's official Twitter account captured:
Moments earlier, Finn Balor blasted Reigns with a kick that leveled the former WWE champion at ringside.

Henry responded with the sarcastic wit that typically accompanies his account, while David Bixenspan applauded the manner in which he felt Balor was carrying the bout:
At one point, the Baltimore fans relented in their disdain of Reigns, resulting in a humorous response from The Fan's Podcast:
In the end, after 40 minutes of in-ring action, Joe grabbed an unsuspecting Balor with the Coquina Clutch and choked him unconscious, cashing his ticket to Great Balls of Fire and a date with Lesnar for the Universal Championship.
Overjoyed at the prospect of two dominant forces like Joe and Lesnar beating the hell out of each other, Twitter responded.
Bleacher Report's Steven Rondina eagerly anticipated the battle of heavyweights that will occur at next month's show, while WhatCulture Pro Wrestling's Adam Pacitti echoed the sentiments of millions of wrestling fans:
Total Wrestling Magazine, Cageside Seats, Voices of Wrestling and former WWE Superstar Lance Storm all joined in on the excitement:
While there is likely huge money to be made in Lesnar-Reigns II and tons of intrigue surrounding Lesnar-Balor, Joe was the best option to win this match and provide fans with a fresh and unexpected main event to what should otherwise be a placeholder pay-per-view.
Long before Lesnar went to the Octagon and came back the Conqueror, a Beast Incarnate unstoppable by the average Superstar, Joe was that guy. He dominated as Ring of Honor world champion for nearly two years and ran roughshod over TNA Wrestling for well over one full year.
He was dominant, relentless and the greatest destroyer pro wrestling had to offer.
It would be a big mistake on the part of WWE Creative not to make fans as aware of that history as possible while building to the high-profile title bout that will officially kick off the Road to SummerSlam.
Given the dire need for a hot program at a time when the Raw product is as cold as it has been since the doldrums of the mid-1990s, expect the writing staff to put forth the effort to build Joe into a believable challenger to the immovable object, Lesnar.
