NBA Finals 2017: Warriors vs. Cavaliers Game 2 Odds, Prop Bets, Predictions

Paul KasabianJun 3, 2017

The Golden State Warriors looked like one of the best teams in NBA history on Thursday night as they easily defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 113-91 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals in front of a raucous home crowd.

Golden State is now just three wins away from being the first NBA team to go undefeated in the postseason. The Warriors are also 28-1 in their last 29 games dating back to the regular season.

The Dubs and Cavs will return to Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, for Game 2 on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ABC.

Here's a look at the latest Game 2 odds and props as well as picks for Sunday and the rest of the series.

Odds

According to OddsShark, the Warriors are currently 8.5-point favorites over the Cavaliers, with the over/under set at 220.5 points. Golden State is either a -425 or -450 favorite on the money line, while the Cavs range from +350 to +355 underdogs.

The Warriors were initially seven-point favorites, but the line immediately jumped after their big win over the Cavs on Thursday night, implying that bettors feel strongly about the Dubs dominating Cleveland once again.

Per Stephen Campbell of OddsShark, the Warriors are undefeated in their last six games straight-up and against the spread as a favorite of 8.5 points or less. Meanwhile, the Cavs are 3-9 against the spread as road underdogs in their last 12.

Golden State is also a massive -500 favorite to win the NBA Finals outright, while Cleveland is a big +350 underdog. If bettors are feeling lucky, they could potentially return $350 on a $100 investment if the Cavs come back and take the series.

Prop Bets

Kevin Durant is now a big favorite to win the NBA Finals MVP award after a 38-point, eight-assist, eight-rebound performance on Thursday night.

According to Vegas Insider, Durant is listed as a huge 5/8 favorite. Prior to Game 1, bettors could have picked Durant to take the MVP at 21/10.

Stephen Curry has the second-best odds to win the MVP at 11/5, while LeBron James leads all Cavaliers with 9/2 odds.

Predictions

Per ESPN.com, Golden State was the most efficient offensive and second-most efficient defensive team in the NBA this year.

Although the Warriors finished with six fewer wins than last year's team that set an NBA record with 73 regular-season victories, one can easily make the case that this year's team is even better considering they added a top-five NBA player in Durant.

Furthermore, Cleveland's defensive woes are rearing their head at a bad time. The Cavs scuffled through the regular season largely because their team defense, which ranked 22nd in efficiency, struggled during the year.

As evidenced by the amount of open shots and easy dunks (Golden State scored 56 points in the paint) the Warriors had on Thursday night, the defense doesn't look like it can match up with Golden State.

That being said, it'd be hard for any defense in NBA history to do so. Golden State is simply too strong for Cleveland.

Pick: Warriors take Game 2 and win the NBA Finals in five games.
