Ex-Penn St. President Graham Spanier Sentenced to 2 Months for Sandusky Scandal
Former Penn State University president Graham Spanier has been sentenced to two months in prison for his role in the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
Per PennLive.com's Teresa Bonner, Spanier will serve two months in jail and another two months under house arrest. He also received two years of probation, a $7,500 fine and must serve 200 hours of community service.
In March, Spanier was found guilty of endangering the welfare of children, per PennLive.com's Charles Thompson. The conviction usually carries a minimum sentence between probation and nine months in prison.
Sandusky was arrested in November 2011 and charged with more than 40 counts of sexually abusing young boys from 1994 to 2009. He served as an assistant coach on Joe Paterno's staff at Penn State from 1969 to 1999.
In October 2012, Sandusky was sentenced to 30-60 years in prison after being convicted on 45 of 48 counts of child sex abuse.
Bonner noted Spanier, who served as Penn State's president from 1995 to 2011 before resigning from the position in light of the Sandusky scandal, intends to appeal his conviction.
