Terry Collins Ejected After Brewers Bat Boy Bumped into Wilmer Flores
New York Mets manager Terry Collins was ejected from his team's 2-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field on Thursday after disputing the umpires' decision to overturn an interference play involving the Brewers bat boy.
In the top of the fourth, Wilmer Flores attempted to catch a foul ball off the bat of Eric Sogard. Flores bumped into the bat boy and couldn't make the catch.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
"My issue was, it was a routine catch," Collins said, per ESPN.com. "It would be one thing if it was a difficult play; that was my argument."
After initially ruling Sogard out, the umpires allowed him to continue his at-bat. By the letter of the law, the umpires were correct in declining to call him out. In the case of unintentional interference, play continues.
"For example: a bat boy, ball attendant, policeman, etc., who tries to avoid being touched by a thrown or batted ball but still is touched by the ball would be involved in unintentional interference," MLB clarified in its official rules.
Ultimately, the reversal benefited the Mets. Sogard grounded into an inning-ending double play. Flores chalked it up as a "ball don't lie" situation, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com:
Despite the double play, the umpires' call Thursday further encapsulated the 2017 season for the Mets. They're already 10 games back of the Washington Nationals, a handful of key players have been out with injuries, and just yesterday, team issued a public apology after Mr. Met made a lewd gesture at a fan.
