Romelu Lukaku Rumoured to Have £100 Million Price Tag for Summer Transfer

Everton will reportedly demand at least £100 million this summer if they are to sell striker Romelu Lukaku.

According to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool Echo, despite the Belgian refusing to sign a new deal—his current contract runs to 2019—and telling Everton he wants to move to a UEFA Champions League club, the Toffees will not sell him unless a world-record fee is tabled.

Kirkbride added the huge asking price is an attempt from Everton to deter potential suitors, as they want to keep Lukaku on their books.

The benefits of keeping the 23-year-old Belgium international at Goodison Park are obvious.

Manager Ronald Koeman is building an impressive outfit in the blue half of Merseyside, and Lukaku is a key component.

He has netted 24 goals in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign—more than any other player in the division—and provided six assists in 32 appearances, per WhoScored.com.

Lukaku's physicality and finishing make him a terror for opposition defenders, and his consistent goalscoring over the past few seasons have earned him a reputation as one of the best young strikers in Europe.

Rumours have abounded that his former club Chelsea would be eager to sign him back, per James Benge of the Evening Standard.

But, if Everton have indeed slapped a £100 million price tag on Lukaku, Chelsea and others will think twice in the summer before attempting to acquire him.
