Trey Mancini Become 1st Oriole with 5 Homers in First 10 Major League Games
Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Trey Mancini smacked two home runs in Wednesday evening's game against the Boston Red Sox, finishing the night 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored.
Mancini's two homers Wednesday gave him five for his career, becoming the first player in Orioles history to hit five bombs in his first 10 career major league games, per the Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).
A 2013 eighth-round pick out of Notre Dame, Mancini quickly rose up the minor league ranks. He hasn't displayed a particularly high amount of power but did collect 23 homers among three levels last season. The 25-year-old made his debut for the Orioles late last season, hitting a shot in his first career game and three in his first four.

Mancini projects as a first baseman in the long run, but that position is currently blocked by slugger Chris Davis. He has added outfield to his repertoire as a result, making three of his four starts in the corner outfield spots.
While it's only a few games into his career at the top level, Mancini has already displayed some promise and will play in a ballpark—Camden Yards—that is conducive to offense. He joins a Baltimore club that figures to challenge for the American League East crown and could turn into another key piece to the team's offense.
Mancini will look to continue his early-career hot streak when he and the Orioles open up a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday.
