Dahntay Jones Reportedly to Sign with Cavaliers After DeAndre Liggins' Release
Following the release of guard DeAndre Liggins, the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly set to sign veteran wing Dahntay Jones to fill their final roster spot heading into the 2017 NBA playoffs.
Chris Reichert of FanSided first reported the move Sunday, and ESPN's Chris Haynes confirmed the news Tuesday.
The Cavs waived Liggins on Sunday, which left them with just 14 players on the roster.
Jones appeared in one regular-season game for Cleveland last season before seeing action in 15 playoff games en route to helping the Cavaliers win the NBA championship.
The 36-year-old averaged just 1.1 points per contest during the 2015-16 postseason, but he provided depth and experience.
Jones hasn't played in 2016-17 since getting waived by the Cavaliers during the preseason, but he is set to rejoin the team at around the same time he did last season.
The former Duke standout has career regular-season averages of 5.4 points and 1.7 rebounds across 12 campaigns with the Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers and Cavs.
