Kevin Durant Won't Have Minute Restrictions in Return vs. Pelicans
Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant will take the floor Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans for the first time since he suffered an injury Feb. 28 against the Washington Wizards.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said in a press conference Friday there will not be a minutes restriction on the eight-time All-Star. Rather, Kerr will take Durant out when he is fatigued.
Reporter Rosalyn Gold-Onwude added details:
Golden State lost that game to Washington and proceeded to drop four of its next six without Durant.
However, the Warriors figured things out in the superstar's absence and are currently riding a 13-game winning streak with an NBA-best mark of 65-14.
The Warriors still have two-time reigning MVP Stephen Curry and All-Stars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to carry the team, but Durant's return should make them all the more formidable in the playoffs as they chase a third straight NBA Finals appearance and second Larry O'Brien Trophy in that span.
Durant averaged 25.3 points and 8.2 rebounds in 59 games before suffering the knee injury and will give his team another dominant player who can take over extended stretches of games.
