LeBron James Passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 788th Straight Double-Digit Game
Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James made history Tuesday night, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the second-most consecutive games with double digits in scoring.
LeBron accomplished the feat during the Cavs' 122-102 win over the Orlando Magic. He now only trails Michael Jordan (866) for the all-time record.
James netted 18 points against the Magic to go along with 11 assists and 11 rebounds in a triple-double.
With the win, Cleveland moved into a tie with the Boston Celtics for first place in the Eastern Conference at 50-27.
When asked about LeBron's streak, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue was unimpressed, telling reporters:
"They should be able to score 10 points. I averaged 10 points for four years. They ought to be able to score 10 points. I mean, the best player in the world, he better be able to score 10 points. ...
... I mean, 10 points? That's one bucket a quarter and then one free throw a half. I mean, come on, man. If you can't do that then we shouldn't be sitting here talking. That's it. What we talking about? Ten points?
"
It has been more than 10 years since James last failed to reach the 10-point threshold; he scored eight against the Milwaukee Bucks on Jan. 5, 2007.
LeBron trails Jordan by 78 games with 10 or more points, and he could break the record during the 2017-18 season.
