Arsenal vs. West Ham: Team News, Preview, Live Stream and TV Info

Rory MarsdenApr 3, 2017

Arsenal's top-four hopes in the 2016-17 Premier League season have all but disappeared following a run of six matches in which they have won just once.

Their last outing on Sunday saw the Gunners claim a 2-2 draw with Manchester City, and they now face a home clash with West Ham United on Wednesday.

The Hammers are in even worse form than Arsenal having picked up just two points from their last six matches, and Slaven Bilic's side will be underdogs at the Emirates Stadium despite the Gunners' recent slump.

Preview

When Arsenal met West Ham at the London Stadium back in December the Gunners prevailed 5-1 with Alexis Sanchez netting a hat-trick.

That victory moved Arsene Wenger's side to second in the table and within three points of league leaders Chelsea.

Now Arsenal are in sixth, 18 points off the Blues at the top of the Premier League and seven points from the top four and a UEFA Champions League spot for next season.

Wenger is under enormous pressure, and Arsenal are in desperate need of a win to hold off seventh-place Everton, who are just a point behind them.

Hammers boss Bilic is also facing criticism, and there has been speculation about his future, but the club have publicly backed him, per BBC Sport:

The Croatian boss will be eager to repay the faith he has been shown and likely feels Arsenal are vulnerable given their recent travails.

The absence of Koscielny could be key as the Frenchman is the leader of Arsenal's defence and Andy Carroll has the physicality to cause the Gunners' back line all kinds of problems with him missing from the side.

After the 5-1 defeat to Arsenal earlier this season the Hammers were hovering just one point above the relegation zone. They recovered admirably and are now six points clear of the drop zone.

But Bilic needs to engineer another upturn in form to make sure the Hammers are not dragged into a late relegation battle, and a win over a vulnerable Arsenal side could be just the tonic to kick-start a decent end to the campaign.
