Ricky Jean Francois, Packers Agree to 1-Year Contract
Following two seasons in the nation's capital, Ricky Jean Francois is moving on to the Green Bay Packers.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jean Francois and the Packers agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year deal worth $3 million.
An eight-year veteran, Jean Francois has suited up for three teams since he debuted in 2009. His most recent stint came with the Washington Redskins, who deployed him as a rotational component along the defensive line.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Over the course of the 2015 and 2016 seasons, the 30-year-old defensive tackle racked up 57 total tackles and 3.5 sacks. In 2016, Jean Francois notched a solid cumulative grade of 74.3 in 442 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
However, Washington cut Jean Francois on March 15 to save $3 million against the salary cap in 2017, per JP Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic.
As a result, Jean Francois was free to pursue a new opportunity—and he reportedly took meetings with the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers before making his final decision.
Now officially signed with the Packers, Jean Francois should have an opportunity to make an impact right from the start.
Although Green Bay has an established rotation along the line that features the likes of Mike Daniels and Kenny Clark, it needs someone to pick up the slack while Letroy Guion serves a four-game suspension for breaching the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.
Since he's not quite big enough to operate as a true 3-4 nose tackle, the 6'3", 313-pound Jean Francois should slide in as a supplementary option at defensive end for head coach Mike McCarthy.
