WWE Raw: Burning Questions to Address After March 20 Show

Ryan DilbertMar 21, 2017

WWE Raw now has a major vacancy in its power structure after Stephanie McMahon ousted Raw general manager Mick Foley.

Foley's removal shakes up the red brand in a big way in the midst of the build to WrestleMania 33. With The Hardcore Legend gone, Raw needs a new captain to steer the ship.

After Monday's Raw, questions about who will fill that spot hover in the air. In addition, there are a number of unknowns concerning the WrestleMania card.

What's the plan for Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe at the April 2 pay-per-view? Will there be a supporting role for Dana Brooke at the event?

Read on for a look at those questions and the rumblings about the Undertaker that emerged after the latest edition of Raw.

What Will Joe and Zayn Do at WrestleMania?

We are still no closer to finding out where The Destroyer and The Underdog from the Underground fit into the WrestleMania card even after the two were heavily involved on Monday's show.

Zayn stood up for Foley when McMahon canned him. He then bickered with the commissioner before colliding with Joe in the ring.

Will we see that rematch once more on The Show of Shows? Was Joe's win Monday a sign of him moving onto something else? It's strange that all this remains unanswered this close to the big event.

All the focus on Foley in Brooklyn could be a foreshadowing of a bout with a major stipulation. Bill Neville of The New Age Insiders podcast wondered aloud if Zayn would represent Foley come April 2:

That would add depth to a potential repeat of Zayn vs. Joe.

The card is plenty massive as this, though, with 11 matches and counting. There's a good chance the two former NXT champs will have to settle for entering the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Who Will Take Over as General Manager?

Foley is out as GM. There's no surprise there after The Hardcore Legend defied McMahon on the March 14 edition of Raw by trying to fire her.

McMahon berated him Monday and sent him packing.

Now what? Does McMahon's power grow? Who would she hire to replace him? Or is Foley's absence only temporary?

It's no secret Foley has needed hip surgery for a long time. He talked about it at length on his Facebook account last December. This storyline firing is the perfect opportunity to allow him the time off needed to get healthy.

That will open the door for a new face to take charge in the meantime and set up the possibility for a triumphant return once he has recovered.

Summer Rae isn't doing anything at the moment. She has GM experience from her days in the former WWE developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling. Raw would receive quite the shake-up with Rae at the helm.

What's Brooke's Role in the Women's Title Picture?

The Raw Women's Championship match at WrestleMania is officially a Fatal 4-Way bout. Nia Jax earned her way into the contest by beating down Bayley on Monday's Raw.

Brooke, in the meantime, remains on the periphery of the title picture.

She clashed with her former mentor Charlotte Flair in the Barclays Center on Raw. Unlike Jax, she was unable to score a victory.

Does that mean Brooke was merely a tuneup opponent for The Queen? Will she instead continue her rivalry with Flair up until and during WrestleMania?

The Total Diva's issues with Flair could be a subplot WWE explores during the Fatal 4-Way match. Brooke could interfere in the action or distract Flair. The attention she has received in the past few weeks suggests she will be a factor somehow.

Otherwise, she will have to wait until after WrestleMania's smoke clears for her story to pick up speed.

Should We Be Concerned about Undertaker?

The Deadman slid into the battle between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns with bad intentions.

As Reigns prepared to charge at a fallen Strowman, Undertaker appeared in the center of the ring. The violence that followed had many asking where the theater ended and reality began.

After Undertaker chokeslammed The Monster Among Men, Taker grimaced noticeably.

That stirred up a wave of speculation. Was the strain of lifting Strowman too much for him? Had Undertaker hurt himself?

The FightBoothPW Twitter account was among those concerned afterward:

This is a case of a fanbase reading too much into a minor moment. There's a good chance Undertaker was merely selling for the sake of adding drama to the scene. The expression could have also been The Phenom realizing he had turned his back to Reigns.

After sending Strowman crashing to the canvas, Undertaker soon found himself on the wrong end of a Reigns spear.

Undertaker is long past his prime. He's a 51-year-old wrestler with an impressive amount of mileage on his wheels. It makes sense that the audience is jumpy about him getting injured, especially this close to WrestleMania.

The Deadman will be fine at WrestleMania time. Reigns will do the majority of the work; Undertaker can hibernate for a year afterward.

That won't be the case forever, though. Time is catching up on the icon, and eventually, he will have to ride off into the sunset.
