Browns Rumors: Cleveland's Asking Price for Brock Osweiler Reportedly Revealed

Alec NathanMar 11, 2017

The Cleveland Browns have made quarterback Brock Osweiler available for trade, and they're reportedly seeking a third-round pick in exchange for the 26-year-old.

According to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns would be willing to package Osweiler with a fifth-round pick and eat half of his $16 million salary for the 2017 season in order to secure a third-round selection.

However, the market for Osweiler's services appears to be rather barren.

"Several NFL personnel executives say they doubt anyone will give the Browns a third-round pick for Osweiler and pay him $8 million a year," Kay Cabot wrote. "If that could've been done, the Texans would've done it, they say."

Kay Cabot noted the more likely conclusion is that Osweiler will eventually be cut.

As things stand, the Browns don't appear to have their quarterback of the future on the roster. Not only is Osweiler considered a near-certain goner in some capacity, but the Browns officially cut Robert Griffin III on Friday after he made five starts in 2016.

With Griffin III and Osweiler (presumably) out of the picture, that leaves the Browns with Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan as the only viable signal-callers on the roster.

That said, the Browns do own pick Nos. 1 and 12 in the first round of April's draft, meaning they will have the flexibility necessary to address their inconsistencies under center.

In his post-combine projections, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller had the Browns selecting Texas A&M edge-rusher Myles Garrett at No. 1 overall, Alabama tight end O.J. Howard at 12 and LSU cornerback Tre'Davious White with the 33rd overall selection.
