The Panthers announced Johnson is available against Atlanta on Saturday.
Johnson's Production Starting to Slow Down
At one time, Johnson was one of the NFL's most feared pass-rushers. He recorded 44 sacks in a four-season span from 2010 to 2013.
Johnson remains a productive player for the Panthers, but age and injuries have started to slow him down. The 30-year-old appeared in just nine games last season before returning in Week 12 and was part of the team's run to the Super Bowl, recording one sack in each of its three playoff games.
This season has been a tumultuous one for Carolina, and it hit a low point in Week 13 when they lost 40-7 to the Seattle Seahawks.
However, it has been a return to health for Johnson, who had appeared in all 12 games up to this point. He is tied for second on the Panthers with four sacks and has forced a team-high three fumbles.
Even a diminished version of Johnson can make an impact for the Panthers because of his natural edge-rushing skills and ability against the run.
