WWE TLC 2016 Matches: Full Predictions for Each Champion at PPV

Anthony MangoDec 4, 2016

WWE TLC 2016 will be the last pay-per-view of the year for SmackDown, meaning outside of the television episodes themselves, this is the final time to shake things up with some new champions.

Every belt will be on the line. AJ Styles is set to defend the World Championship against Dean Ambrose, the final battle between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler will take place, Alexa Bliss gets her rightful second chance at Becky Lynch's Women's Championship and The Wyatt Family seek to finally win the tag team gold that has eluded the faction since coming to the main roster.

All four titles have the potential to change hands, although some are much more likely than others.

With that being said, what are the possible outcomes which might unfold at tonight's Tables, Ladders and Chairs event?

Let's take a look at some predictions of how each of the champions will fair.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match

1 of 4

At face value, this should be an easy victory for The Wyatt Family, as Heath Slater and Rhyno simply can't compare to Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt.

However, underdogs do prevail from time to time, particularly if there's any kind of lingering doubt.

From the onset of Orton's heel turn, something has felt off. He's shown his loyalty but almost to specifically divert attention away from the impending reveal that it was all just a hoax.

Orton's rationality for teaming with Wyatt has been reduced to the philosophy of "If you can't beat them, join them."

Does anybody not feel it's inevitable he'll end up saying he was never truly aligned with him but pretended to be in order to mess with his head and kill off The Wyatt Family from within?

There's been tension between him and Luke Harper, and while the easy choice for predicting how the SmackDown Tag Team Championship match will go is to say The Wyatt Family is victorious, what if Harper somehow gets in the way?

What better plan to hurt Wyatt than to take away his second-in-command by having them no longer trust each other after Harper unintentionally causes a disqualification which allows Slater and Rhyno to retain?

It would be an accident on Harper's behalf, sure, but if Orton can plant the seeds of doubt in Wyatt's brain, it could lead to in-fighting that splits the group apart.

Don't be too surprised if Slater and Rhyno keep the titles by some sort of shenanigans like this, and it's all uncovered as the machinations of The Viper playing mind games with The Eater of Worlds.

Unless, of course, the current champions are simply steamrolled and decisively dethroned, which is just as likely an option.

In either scenario, Slater and Rhyno either lose the titles or only retain by means of interference from outside sources.

SmackDown Women's Championship Match

2 of 4

If there's any championship on par or more likely to change hands at TLC than the Tag Team Championship, it's Becky Lynch's SmackDown Women's Championship.

Alexa Bliss was good enough for the NXT Women's Championship when she was on that brand, but coming up to the main roster has given her a chance to improve her skills even more.

Now she's the most credible threat to Lynch's title reign save for Nikki Bella, who is currently busy dealing with Carmella in their No Disqualification Match.

Seeing as this is a Tables Match, history has shown that fluke victories can happen. WWE will sometimes book the winner to only come out on top due to a lapse of judgment or oddball circumstances.

All it takes is for Becky to slip up in a tiny fashion and for Alexa to nudge her off the turnbuckle into a table and a new champion is crowned.

When in doubt, it's smart to stick with the champion retaining the title when there's nothing screaming that there needs to be a change, but Becky's held it long enough where it wouldn't hurt her credibility to take a step back.

Meanwhile, Alexa can move on to a feud with Naomi before eventually losing the title to Nikki Bella, possibly around WrestleMania, which could be a fitting closure for the next season of Total Bellas or Total Divas.

A world where Becky is still champion Monday morning will be no surprise, but don't count out Alexa's chances to stun everyone not just with her looks but her victory as well.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

3 of 4

For months on end, Dolph Ziggler and The Miz have traded wins and losses over the Intercontinental Championship in a feud that has included a retirement stipulation, the return of The Spirit Squad and so, so much hairspray from Maryse.

This next scheduled clash is being marketed as their last encounter—at least for a while—and it will include the added element of the Ladder Match stipulation.

Although one would think this feud's finality would be better off with something like a Hell in a Cell match or Three Stages of Hell, climbing the ladder isn't typically the best way to settle the score for good.

There are far too many variables that tend to get in the way of determining a true winner without any kind of outside interference, as nobody needs to be pinned or made to tap out for the decision to be made.

Since The Miz has three more allies on his side than Ziggler, it's hard to argue against the prediction that Maryse, Mikey and Kenny will insert themselves into the match and stop The Showoff from successfully climbing the ladder.

All it takes it for one person to hold him back for the right number of seconds to allow The Miz to walk up the ladder and take the belt down, and by that point, the match is over.

If WWE planned on having Ziggler walk out of 2016 with the gold, the title probably never would have changed hands before Survivor Series. Instead of The Miz vs. Sami Zayn, that match likely would have been Ziggler against Rusev.

It seems like an awful lot of trouble to trade the belt to The Miz for one match only to then give it back to Ziggler at TLC, although The Miz has been so good as of late that he could most certainly rebound from the loss easier than Ziggler will.

Bottom line, The Miz has the edge to win this match and keep the title around his waist, despite how Ziggler will undoubtedly put up a great fight.

WWE World Championship Match

4 of 4

It's been a long road since Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles started squaring off in contention for the WWE World Championship, but just as The Miz and Dolph Ziggler will move on to other feuds after this event, so, too, will the competitors in the main event.

Along the way, John Cena's gotten involved, James Ellsworth went from being a guest star to a contracted wrestler officially on the brand and one thing has been consistent above all: Ambrose is not winning that title back.

There's too much stock in Styles at this point and not enough in Ambrose to justify the belt switching between the two.

After The Undertaker's return before Survivor Series, it became apparent the biggest high-profile match for him that hasn't been done yet was against Styles, which makes perfect sense as a headliner of the Royal Rumble event.

In fact, The Phenom may even appear after The Phenomenal One is victorious, if not just to send a message that he's coming for him.

Ambrose, in the meantime, can set his sights on the Royal Rumble match itself, hoping to earn another chance to reattain his previous championship, but he should get sidetracked soon enough with whatever new feud eats up his time.

This will be a very fun match to watch, but if you're a fan of The Lunatic Fringe, the ending will disappoint you as the current "champ who runs the camp" will still be able to utter that phrase.

Who do you think will walk away with each of SmackDown's championships? Do you agree or disagree with the predictions presented here?
