WWE Survivor Series 2016: Power Ranking Every Match at PPV
Sunday's 30th annual edition of WWE Survivor Series provided fans with a whole host of significant moments—as well as a night of great all-round wrestling.
Even though the main event was one of the most controversial matches in years, the rest of the night featured some really exciting and energetic action.
Team Raw claimed the bragging rights with two wins to SmackDown's one, while there were some great title matches thrown in for good measure, too.
But which match was the standout bout? And which was the most forgettable? Here's a ranking of all six main card matches from Sunday night from worst to best.
6. Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar
1 of 6The match sits right at the top when it comes to providing a shock factor, but in terms of the bout itself, it was obviously going to rank at the bottom.
It would be unfair to put any of the night's well-fought matches below a contest that didn't even last 90 seconds.
What can you say about it? The result will live long in the memory, and the reaction of the crowd in Toronto on Sunday night spoke volumes about the magnitude of Goldberg's win.
But this was clearly the worst match of the night.
5. Women's Survivor Series Match
2 of 6The middle four bouts on this power ranking are all incredibly tough to split, but the traditional Survivor Series match involving Raw's and SmackDown's female competitors comes in first.
Like the tag team Survivor Series match, there were good and bad moments throughout. But here, it felt like WWE could have given its fans a little bit more with some of the characters involved.
Nia Jax went on a real tear through the roster in the opening minutes of the contest but then was eliminated by Becky Lynch in seriously underwhelming fashion.
Sasha Banks was put away much too quickly, too, given her popularity. But it was pleasing to see Natalya step out of the shadows, and her SmackDown team-mate Naomi continues to be one of the most energetic female competitors on the entire roster.
It's obvious WWE is going to run with Charlotte vs. Bayley, and having them both stand tall as survivors at the end made perfect sense.
It just felt like a match with a lot of what-ifs attached to it.
4. The Brian Kendrick vs. Kalisto
3 of 6The cruiserweight division has yet to really get going yet, but this was an encouraging night moving forward for everyone involved.
First of all, if the division is to remain on Raw, then Kalisto needs to be traded immediately. He showed that when he's put in high-flying, entertaining matches, he can emerge having seriously entertained.
Kendrick is the division's standout performer at the moment, though. With his heel work and Kalisto's energy, the two men were able to put on a great match. It was one of the best since the cruiserweights returned to WWE, and even though it's in the middle of this particular power ranking, it's only because the action was so good elsewhere.
Baron Corbin's interference casts doubt on Kalisto's participation with the cruiserweights moving forward, but it was a job well done from both men on Sunday night.
3. Tag Team Survivor Series Match
4 of 6What makes a good Survivor Series match? Usually there are many components, and the tag teams of both Raw and SmackDown managed to tick a lot of those boxes on Sunday.
There were low points, however. The New Day's elimination so early into the match cheapens its position at the top of Raw's tag team division, and the eliminations could have been spread out a touch more.
But the good parts of the match were seriously good. Allowing The Usos to flourish and look as strong as ever is a wise move from WWE, as was the decision to eventually let Sheamus and Cesaro continue their love-hate relationship by securing the win for Team Raw.
The match deviated between good, old-fashioned technical wrestling and a flurry of spots from all the competitors.
It was energetic and certainly fun to watch. There were just a couple of decisions which felt strange and still do now.
2. The Miz vs. Sami Zayn
5 of 6Sami Zayn rarely disappoints when he's thrown in a match with high stakes, and Sunday was no exception for the carefree Canadian.
The finish will divide opinion, but it allowed Zayn to go again and potentially challenge The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship on a regular basis, despite being on a different show.
Had Zayn been put away cleanly, it would have done nothing for his momentum moving into 2017. Similarly, The Miz's dropping the belt a few days after winning it would have been a confusing decision.
And both of these men wrestled their hearts out all the way through the contest. The submission battles in the middle of the ring were engaging, as was The Miz's systematic work on Zayn's leg throughout the contest.
The Miz seems to be really excelling in the ring at the moment. This was another strong night for the champion, but you suspect these two are not done with each other just yet.
1. Men's Survivor Series Match
6 of 6There's little doubting that the men's Survivor Series bout was the stellar match of the whole evening.
It lasted almost an hour and provided enough storytelling to set all 10 participants up for the next few months.
Where do you begin? The Shield's mini-reunion was one of the real standout moments of an absorbing contest, and it will be interesting to see where Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens are headed after the way they were both eliminated.
Bray Wyatt emerged as a major player in WWE at long last, Randy Orton was the match's MVP and it would be foolish to overlook the contribution of Shane McMahon.
It provided moment after moment and had a satisfying ending with The Wyatt Family standing tall. That should have happened a long time ago.
All things considered, it was the most enjoyable match of the bunch to watch.
