Arians Reveals Veldheer's Roster Status

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians told reporters Veldheer would be placed on injured reserve due to the torn triceps.
Veldheer Has History of Triceps Injuries
It's the second time Veldheer will have had the procedure. In August 2013, he had triceps surgery while playing for the Oakland Raiders. He returned three months later.
Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site speculated Arizona may sign an offensive tackle to fill in for Veldheer.
Urban pointed to an interview on Arizona Sports 98.7's Doug and Wolf show with Cardinals general manager Steve Keim. Keim didn't mention Veldheer specifically but said the team will make some changes to the roster: "I would say there will be a few. We’ll take a look at some different players. There should be a change or two."
Pass protection has been an issue for the Cardinals this year. Arizona is tied for the second-most sacks allowed (25) and ranks 16th in pass-blocking on Football Outsiders.
With Veldheer out for a significant chunk of time, protecting Carson Palmer's blind side will become an even bigger problem. Ulrick John is listed as the backup left tackle, and the 24-year-old has yet to appear in a game this season.
As a result, Keim will likely want to look to the free-agent market to bolster Arizona's tackle depth for the second half of the year.
