Chris Lammons Ejected for Throwing Punches vs. Tennessee
South Carolina cornerback Chris Lammons was ejected during the first quarter of Saturday's game against Tennessee after he threw punches at Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings.
Lammons and Jennings were tangled up in the end zone when Lammons threw two punches that connected with Jennings' stomach and helmet.
In addition to being ejected from the game, Lammons was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that moved the Volunteers down to South Carolina's 14-yard line.
Tennessee would eventually turn that opening into a score, though it would take seven more plays and an offside penalty on South Carolina on 4th-and-1 to tie the game at 7-7.
Lammons' absence from the rest of this game could have huge ramifications for South Carolina, as Wes Rucker of 247Sports noted he's been active in the secondary this season:
The good news for South Carolina is it didn't let the Lammons' ejection and defensive penalties destroy its psyche as the game rolled on. The Gamecocks went back on top two drives later after Jamarcus King intercepted a pass from Joshua Dobbs, leading to Bryan Edwards' 17-yard touchdown catch.
South Carolina has struggled in conference play entering Saturday's game. The Gamecocks own a 3-4 record overall but are just 1-4 against SEC competition and are ahead of only Missouri in the SEC East.
