No. 1 Overall Recruit Jalen Brewster Makes Decision on Recruitment After Texas Tech Commitment

After committing to Texas Tech in the fall, class of 2027 top recruit Jalen Brewster has assured the Red Raiders he isn't going anywhere.

He told Rivals' Hayes Fawcett that he is shutting down his recruitment.

"I feel like Texas Tech is the best place for me and the best place to build my own legacy," he said.

Brewster, a Buford, Georgia, native, is considered to be the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2027 by 247Sports' composite rankings. He held offers from virtually every top program in the country but picked Texas Tech over Indiana and Ohio State.

Brewster, who stands at 6'3" and 302 pounds, joins a stacked class of 2027 for the Red Raiders. Texas Tech's defensive line in particular should be in good shape, as No. 3-ranked edge Anthony Sweeney has committed to Joey McGuire's program.

The Red Raiders have the eighth-ranked class for 2027, according to 247Sports.

Texas Tech is one of the teams to watch this year and in the coming years in college football. The Red Raiders finished 12-2 last year, marking one of their best seasons in program history as they reached the College Football Playoff for the first time.

Texas Tech is rumored to have one of the strongest NIL funds in college football, and the evidence is in the Red Raiders' loaded recruiting and transfer portal classes.

But having talent doesn't always equal winning championships. McGuire, who is in his fourth season in Lubbock, will look to prove he's the coach who can bring Texas Tech a national title in the near future.

Once Brewster arrives on campus, winning a championship should be made much easier.
