WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, News and Preview for October 24

Ryan DilbertOct 24, 2016

A beastly retort is on the way on Monday's WWE Raw.

Brock Lesnar will storm back onto WWE's marquee show to address Goldberg. The powerhouse emerged last week after a 12-year absence, saying that maybe he had "one last ass-kicking" in him.

Lesnar's response will now follow, with the Survivor Series main event taking precedence on the last Raw before the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on Sunday.

Minneapolis is set to play host as WWE juggles building toward the Nov. 20 Lesnar-Goldberg showdown and hyping the impending PPV.

Kevin Owens will compete in the evening's headline bout, facing both the man who will challenge him for the Universal Championship at Hell in a Cell and his best friend, Chris Jericho. Things promise to get complicated.

Will Jericho and Owens' alliance disintegrate before Sunday? Will Sheamus and Cesaro pull off some actual teamwork? And what bout is bound to be added to the PPV card?

The Raw preview on WWE.com, social media buzz and storyline projections offer answers to those questions ahead of the Hell in a Cell go-home show set to air on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

It's Lesnar's turn to fire at his old foe.

Goldberg returned to Raw last Monday and accepted Lesnar's challenge for a rematch of their WrestleMania XX collision.

The Beast Incarnate will now head to Minnesota to respond, as WWE revealed on last week's Raw.

Goldberg's emotional promo will be a tough act to follow. The electricity around his return, though, will make selling Lesnar vs. Goldberg easier.

Monday's Raw will also feature a Triple Threat match as its main event.

Seth Rollins will take on both Owens and Jericho to close the show. The bout promises to complicate things for the universal champ. He and Jericho are supposed to be the best of friends, but battling in the same ring is sure to put a strain on their relationship.

The Jericho-Owens feud many expect to materialize could be on its way as soon as Monday night.

News, Potential Spoilers

There is uncertainty and confusion about what will be Hell in a Cell's main event.

As Joseph Currier of Figure Four Online pointed out, Raw general manager Mick Foley back-pedaled on what seemed to be an indication that Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte would go on last at the PPV.

WWE owner Vince McMahon tweeted about the women being part of a "triple main event":

Expect some clarity on the situation on Monday night. If Banks and Charlotte are indeed going to make history as the first women to headline a PPV, WWE will play that up.

Because Hell in a Cell is just days away, PWInsider's Mike Johnson believes a few surprises may be in store. He noted, "Expect some storyline twists."

And in somber news, former WWE manager Frenchy Martin died, as WWE announced on its official website. Expect at least a memorial graphic at the start of the show and possibly a mention during the broadcast.

Raw Streaks

In one of the most unexpected developments on Raw, Bo Dallas is in the middle of a bona fide push.

His recent rise continued last Monday when he took down Neville in under three minutes. That earned Dallas his fourth straight victory in singles action, per CageMatch.net

After the bell, Dallas turned on Curtis Axel, bashing his old stablemate at ringside, likely setting up a feud between them.

Neville, meanwhile, has to be wondering what he needs to do to get the WWE machine behind him. He continues to be one of the most misused talents on the roster.

In recent weeks, Nia Jax has been forced to the sidelines.

After tearing through local talent for weeks after the brand split, TV time has been harder to come by for her. As seen on her CageMatch.net profile, she has gone five consecutive weeks without a match on Raw. Jax hasn't wrestled on Raw since Sept. 12.

Her recent absence likely means there is nothing in the works for Hell in a Cell, but WWE has to be careful not to waste all the momentum it created for her earlier. The audience needs to see her feasting every once in a while. Otherwise, memories of her dominance will fade.

Final Stages of Hell in a Cell Build

Sheamus and Cesaro don't seem to stand a chance of dethroning The New Day at Hell in a Cell. The tag team is so dysfunctional that it's more likely the two will knock each other out than knock down the champs.

The far-from-cohesive unit will get one more crack at working together before the PPV. WWE announced last week on Raw that Sheamus and Cesaro will take on The New Day in non-title action.

The Raw preview on WWE.com asked, "Will The Celtic Warrior and The Swiss Superman continue to butt heads, even against the Raw tag team champions, or will they finally unite over a common goal?"

WWE could offer quite the curveball by escalating the animosity between these two on Monday night, only to have them suddenly get on the same page once the titles are on the line. The harder WWE teases an implosion between Sheamus and Cesaro, the more shocking it will be to see them band together come prime time.

The PPV's card is poised to add a David vs. Goliath tale.

Sami Zayn stood up to Braun Strowman last week—the underdog staring down the monster. Strowman had been demanding stiffer competition. When Foley only offered him enhancement talent, he sought to hurt his opponents.

Zayn now looks to be Strowman's first real challenge.

The Raw preview planted the idea of an upset: "Zayn could cement himself as one of Team Red's toughest Superstars if he picks up a win over the juggernaut."

Ahead of their historic meeting inside Hell in a Cell, Banks and Charlotte are sure to turn up the ferocity between them. The match already feels big, but to befit the Hell in a Cell stage, things need to grow nastier and more personal between them.

Banks and Charlotte need to offer a preview of their war on Monday night, leaving the audience with a lasting image that hints at how violent things will get inside that cage.

And this "triple main event" nonsense has to go. WWE either goes bold and makes Banks vs. Charlotte Hell in a Cell's final bout, or it doesn't. There's no in-between.

The company has an opportunity to make history and make use of the surging momentum of the women's division. Owens and Rollins going on last would be everyday business; Banks and Charlotte getting that spot would be a game-changer.
