Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Domenico Berardi and Mauro Icardi
Tottenham Hotspur have received a double blow in their respective pursuits of Serie A duo Domenico Berardi and Mauro Icardi.
According to Italian television channel SportItalia (h/t Calciomercato.com), Sassuolo general manager Domenico Carnevali believes Berardi will remain with the club for the long term:
"We have no financial problems, so we don’t need to sell anybody. We’ve already sold [Nicola] Sansone and [Sime] Vrsaljko and Berardi is part of our future.
"
He’s not going to leave in January and he could stay with us for long time. We are on very good terms with Inter [Milan], despite what people said last summer.

Per talkSPORT, Spurs have been keeping an eye on the 22-year-old's progress. The winger enjoyed a stunning start to the season, racking up seven goals and an assist in six games before suffering a knee injury.
As well as his impressive pace and creativity, Berardi is also a hard worker who isn't afraid to track back or press his opponents high up the field. He'd fit in well at White Hart Lane.
As WhoScored.com revealed, the youngster is a cool finisher from the penalty spot to boot:
While Sassuolo's desire to keep him is to be expected, Berardi has shown he's capable of playing for a more elite side than the Neroverdi.
Spurs may well be a tempting prospect for the Italian, but he'll undoubtedly have a range of suitors to choose from if he does leave Sassuolo.
Meanwhile, despite Icardi's spectacular falling out with Inter's ultras after including a controversial passage about them in his autobiography, his wife and agent, Wanda Nara, has made clear he will not be leaving the San Siro.

When quizzed on whether the striker would be moving clubs as a result of the fallout, she told Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra (h/t Goal's Chris Myson):
"Get that out of your head.
He will not go away from Inter, will stay 100 per cent. He is—and will stay—the captain, which has not been in doubt.
He had opportunities to leave last summer but chose to stay because of the relationship he has with the fans and because he is attached to Inter. He does not want to have to start all over again.
"
According to Metro's Tom Olver, Nara recently confirmed Tottenham as having approached Inter about the hitman in the summer.
He netted 16 goals for Inter last year—a thoroughly respectable tally considering they don't boast a great deal of creativity in their side. Here are some of his highlights:
Gianluca Di Marzio's David Amoyal remarked on his impressive finishing in the summer:
He has enjoyed a strong start to the season on the field, netting six goals and providing two assists.
The Argentinian is deadly in the penalty area, and the prospect of him playing for a side that could give him more ammunition is mouthwatering indeed.
However, it seems his time at Inter may not be coming to a premature end after all.
