Bill Belichick Goes on 5-Minute Rant on Why He's Done Using Tablets

Andrew GouldOct 18, 2016

Bill Belichick is typically a man of few words. Perhaps nobody was asking the right questions.

The media received a lengthy rant from the New England Patriots head coach, who railed against using tablets during games, per NESN's Zack Cox:

"As you probably noticed, I'm done with the tablets," Belichick said, starting his passionate plea against the Microsoft Surface devices. "There just isn't enough consistency in the performance of the tablets. I just can't take it anymore."

He added that "there are problems in every game" due to connection issues. This comes two weeks after he did his best Rob Gronkowski impersonation during Week 4's 16-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills, spiking a tablet in frustration.

For some, a 64-year-old man condemning technology may seem a lot like Abe Simpson yelling at a cloud. But if he's constantly running into complications, the advances aren't worth the trouble.

Unfortunately for reporters hoping for more juicy quotes, Belichick probably hit his word quota for the season.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Microsoft responded to Belichick's criticism:

"

We respect Coach Belichick’s decision, but stand behind the reliability of Surface. We continue to receive positive feedback on having Surface devices on the sidelines from coaches, players and team personnel across the league. In the instances where sideline issues are reported in NFL games, we work closely with the NFL to quickly address and resolve.

"

The NFL also released a statement defending Microsoft, courtesy of USA Today's Tom Pelissero:

It appears Belichick ruffled some feathers with his remarks.
