Pros and Cons of Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte as 1st Women's Hell in a Cell Match
Charlotte and Sasha Banks are headed for the history books at WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 on Oct. 30.
The two Superstars most responsible for resuscitating the women's division will be locked inside of Hell in a Cell at the upcoming Raw-exclusive pay-per-view. This will be the first time this has ever happened, as Satan's Structure has historically always been a battleground for the men of WWE.
But all of that is going to change.

Some likely saw this coming. After all, these two make magic every time they're in the ring together. They bring so much to the company and have come so far that they deserve the major platform Hell in a Cell brings.
The fact is that they've earned this spot.
However, while some can't wait for this match to happen, others are likely not looking forward to it. It's not about the talent involved; Banks and Charlotte have already proved themselves in every way.
But two women entering such a barbaric environment seems like the wrong move.
Is this what should happen between Charlotte and Banks? Just because they've put the work in to get this far does not mean it should. Does WWE want to make history here because it can or because it should?
Is the decision best left to the women involved?
Hell in a Cell will be a historic night for them. But until it happens, fans will debate the pros and cons of it all. Maybe that will continue after the event as well.
The Pros
Why not book them in this match?
When two male Superstars have the kind of rivalry Banks and Charlotte share, booking them inside Hell in a Cell is the next logical move. The idea is that an ordinary ring is not enough anymore and that something else is needed for the two to settle the score.
Women's wrestling has evolved to this level of importance. This is what the revolution has been about since its inception in July 2015. The female Superstars of WWE only wanted the chance to be taken seriously and reach for the top the way their male counterparts always have.
This is what happens when the door is open for talented workers.
The Boss and The Genetically Superior Athlete are not just nicknames. Banks and Charlotte are on top because they wanted it more than anyone else. That's who they are. They had the tools to succeed, and that's what they're doing.
If two women can main-event Raw and work Hell in a Cell, they can do anything in WWE. Why not allow them to headline a major pay-per-view? Why not book that for Hell in a Cell?
Charlotte and Banks have arguably done more for women's wrestling than even Lita and Trish Stratus. They've taken the opportunities they were given and have gone further than many of the women who went before them could only dream of.
They're becoming trailblazers, and there can be no better argument in favor of supporting this match. But there's more.
This feud has gone on for two years, and it must ease up at some point. The two will likely always have heat, but the door must eventually close, if only temporarily. Hell in a Cell could provide a stopping point for them so they can begin to focus on other opponents.
Without that happening, WWE runs the risk of burning out the fans over this feud. Even the best need a break, and these two have come too far to lose their momentum now. It's time to transition to the next step, and that process will begin on Oct. 30.
The Cons
There's no reason for this match to happen.
Charlotte and Banks have impressed WWE fans time and again in regular contests. They've never needed the hype that a gimmick match provides before, and they don't need it now. Booking them inside Hell in a Cell is nothing more than a cheap tactic to boost sales.
Fans have never needed a stipulation to appreciate the work of these two Superstars.

They also don't need to see two women locked inside of a massive steel cage. The Attitude Era may be over, but that does not mean the unexpected cannot happen here. If either woman tried a crazy stunt involving the cell, a serious injury could occur.
If that happens, the uselessness of this contest would be exposed for the whole world to see. There's no good reason to subject Charlotte and Banks to this kind of environment.
Then there's the matter of the Universal Championship. Kevin Owens is still working to establish this title as a significant championship, and WWE is hoping he can do just that. But booking Banks and Charlotte in a Hell in a Cell match takes the focus off KO and his belt.
Another title would take precedence over the Universal Championship, and that is something WWE should not allow to happen. If this belt is ever going to compare to the WWE World Championship, it must take center stage. This could have happened on Oct. 30, but it won't.
What if fans have already seen the best that Charlotte and Banks have to give? What if this match will be more of the same, only inside of a cell?
Maybe the most obvious question here is what happens after the match is over.
One woman will leave with the Raw Women's Championship and move on to the next challenge. But what happens to the loser? What major challenge awaits her? The women's division may have a ton of spotlight, but it's not exactly filled with talent.
What's left for the two women involved here when Hell in a Cell is seen as the pinnacle of their rise?
WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 will always be remembered for the first women's match held inside Satan's Structure. Whether it was a good idea remains to be seen.
