After locking horns for the first time more than 12 years ago, WWE announced Tuesday that Brock Lesnar and Goldberg will have their long-awaited rematch at Survivor Series on November 20:
Whispers regarding a possible clash between Lesnar and Goldberg began when the Beast Incarnate was announced as the cover athlete for WWE 2K17 and Goldberg was revealed as a special playable character for those who preordered the game.

Additional hints surfaced along the way, such as a "Suplex City" sign appearing in the following WWE 2K17 promo involving Goldberg:
Both The Conqueror and The Myth talked trash about each other during promotional interviews and appearances for the game, but their rivalry started to come to a head when Goldberg appeared on ESPN's SportsCenter.
Former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman interviewed Goldberg, who talked at length about Lesnar and his desire to have another match against him:
In response to Goldberg's interview, Paul Heyman appeared on Raw to represent Lesnar and lay down a challenge, as seen in this video courtesy of WWE's official Twitter account:
Per WWE Universe, Heyman had no shortage of confidence in his client's taking down Goldberg:
After Heyman called out Goldberg, the former holder of "The Streak" tweeted his intention to answer the challenge the following week on Raw:
Goldberg did precisely that in Denver and had some choice words for Lesnar and his advocate:
While Goldberg said he was initially unsure about coming back for one more match, he accepted the challenge and proclaimed that Lesnar is "last," which suggests Survivor Series may mark the final bout of his illustrious career:
Now that the match is official, Survivor Series is a must-see event.
With multiple traditional Survivor Series elimination matches pitting Raw against SmackDown on deck, a big-time main event was needed, and Lesnar and Goldberg are two big names worthy of carrying one of WWE's top pay-per-views.
While Lesnar and Goldberg have already cemented their spots in wrestling history, they have plenty to prove at Survivor Series.
Their match at WrestleMania 20 was one of the all-time disappointments. The in-ring work was subpar, and the atmosphere was poor since the fans in attendance knew that both Superstars intended to leave WWE following the match.
Although Lesnar and Goldberg are more about providing a spectacle than an in-ring clinic, they're facing some level of pressure to deliver. Also, since Lesnar lost their first meeting, he and Heyman have incentive to change that result in the rematch.
Regardless of how the contest plays out, many have been waiting to see Lesnar vs. Goldberg for more than a decade. While a rematch was always in doubt, WWE managed to deliver.
