J.T. Barrett Breaks Ohio State Record for Career Passing Touchdowns
Junior quarterback J.T. Barrett made history during Saturday's game against Rutgers, as he became Ohio State's all-time leader in passing touchdowns.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, Barrett's 58th scoring strike moved him past Bobby Hoying.
The record-breaker was Barrett's third touchdown pass of the day, as he found junior tight end Marcus Baugh from 16 yards out to help put the Buckeyes on top 23-0 in the second quarter.
Ohio State on BTN provided video of Barrett's historic pass:
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Barrett's record is the fact that he accomplished it in just his 27th career game.
After seizing the starting job as a freshman in 2014 and throwing for 34 touchdowns, he took a back seat to Cardale Jones for a large chunk of the 2015 campaign.
Barrett is back at the controls with Jones now in the NFL, however, and he is enjoying another strong year with the Buckeyes positioned for another berth in the College Football Playoff.
While Barrett already has a national championship on his resume, it was Jones who led OSU to the title after Barrett broke his ankle in the regular-season finale two years ago.
