Keylor Navas Comments on Mistake After Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund Draw
Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has admitted he was at fault for Borussia Dortmund's first goal in Los Blancos' 2-2 draw at Signal Iduna Park in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday—his first appearance of the 2016-17 campaign.
The Costa Rica international struggled to hold shots throughout the match and was caught out by a free-kick from Raphael Guerreiro, punching the ball into the path of Raphael Varane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The forward won out and tied things up after Cristiano Ronaldo had opened the scoring.
Speaking to UEFA's official website (h/t Football Espana), Navas took responsibility and promised he'd work on his issues:

"The team put in a great effort. It is evident in the first goal I made a mistake.
It took me a bit by surprise, I took the wrong decision and it cost us a goal. We will work on those details so it doesn’t happen again.
I felt calm during the whole game despite the long months I’ve been out. Thanks to god I am back and able to help my team-mates.
My mentality doesn’t change. I have to train hard, improve and it is the coach’s decision (who plays).

Varane and Andre Schurrle also scored, as BVB maintained their lead in Group F after two matchdays thanks to a superior goal difference.
Pundits watching the match were not impressed with the 29-year-old's performance. ESPN's Taylor Twellman was one of many who took to social media:
El Chiringuito (h/t Sport) also caught Ronaldo and Gareth Bale discussing the incident at half-time, the former mimicking a goalkeeper holding on to a ball.
Navas recovered after half-time and made several key stops to preserve the draw, a solid result against an in-form Dortmund.
After a lengthy spell on the sidelines, some rust was to be expected, and Real manager Zinedine Zidane took a big risk starting Navas in such a high-profile match.

Kiko Casilla has done a solid job in his absence, and while the Spaniard is hardly a world-class option in goal, he had form and match rhythm on his side.
Navas was one of Real's standouts last season and a key player in the successful Champions League campaign, so once he rediscovers his form, mistakes like the one he made on Tuesday should vanish from his game.
