Dak Prescott Comments on Playing for Dallas Cowboys
The moment that Dallas Cowboys fans have been talking about will arrive sooner than expected when Dak Prescott lines up under center as the team's starting quarterback against the New York Giants.
While the anticipation for people in Dallas is swelling for September 11, Prescott still believes this is a surreal moment for him.
"I don't know if it's ever going to hit me that I'm playing for my favorite team growing up or playing for America's Team," Prescott told CBS 11 during Thursday's preseason finale against Houston, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Prescott, who did not play against the Texans, was thrust into the spotlight after Tony Romo suffered a broken bone in his back after taking a hit from Seattle Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril in the third preseason game.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has been mum about how long Romo will be out, but owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan (via Machota) his timetable could range anywhere from four to 10 weeks.
A fourth-round pick out of Mississippi State, Prescott dazzled in the Cowboys' first three preseason games by going 38-of-50 with 454 yards and seven total touchdowns (five passing).
Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was also interviewed during Thursday's preseason broadcast and explained what Prescott is going to see from opposing defenses:
"They're going to try to see how real Dak really is. Once they line me up one-on-one, they're going to see how real Dak really is because I'm going to come through for him. When they start to double me, there goes Terrance [Williams], there goes [Cole] Beasley, there goes [Jason] Witten, there goes Brice [Butler].
You can just pick your poison. You can have it however you want. We're ready to go.
"
Prescott is going to endure the natural growing pains associated with being a first-year NFL player. His preseason numbers paint a compelling picture, but he was also facing vanilla defenses and, at least through the first two games, was coming in after most starters had been taken out.
Fortunately, the Cowboys have a lot of talent to help Prescott succeed. Their offensive line is one of the best units in football, Bryant and Jason Witten are All-Pro players at their respective positions, and Ezekiel Elliott is a star waiting to break out at running back.
Prescott will get a chance to live his dream one week from Sunday, but it will be the players around him who determine how high the Cowboys climb in 2016 until Romo returns.
