Manchester United Transfer News: James Rodriguez Talks Big Bid, Latest Rumours
Manchester United transfer target James Rodriguez has revealed he turned down a €85 million (£71.2 million) offer from an unnamed club this summer, per Hugo Cerezo of Marca.
The Real Madrid attacking midfielder has failed to seal his place in Zinedine Zidane's first-team squad after the Frenchman was appointed manager following the sacking of Rafael Benitez in January.
However, Colombia international Rodriguez has vowed to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu and win back his spot in the starting lineup.

Per Cerezo, he said: "I will fight to earn my place. That's my dream. I will stay at Real Madrid, I will succeed here. I know that the club received an €85 million bid for me, but I'm not leaving."

Per WhoScored.com, the 25-year-old former Porto playmaker made 17 starts in La Liga last term but still managed to notch seven goals and supply eight assists in a fragmented season.
Take a look at some of the best goals, dribbles and tricks by Rodriguez:
A two-time UEFA Champions League winner, the FIFA 2014 World Cup top scorer has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital in recent times, with a transfer to United looking the most likely outcome.
Per David McDonnell of the Daily Mirror, the Red Devils—under the tenure of ex-boss Louis van Gaal—had been given permission to bid £50 million for the creative midfielder in June.
A deal never materialised, but United's interest in the talented but unsettled star remains. Per Cerezo, it was Rodriguez's decision to backtrack on his idea to depart the club that forced Los Blancos to pull out of any deal for Valencia's Andre Gomes. That withdrawal paved the way for the Portugal international to seal a contract with La Liga champions Barcelona instead, per the BBC.
Elsewhere, Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has played down the overall importance of Paul Pogba in his squad, insisting the Serie A champions have enough strength in depth, per Goal's Michael Huguenin.
Speaking ahead of Juve's International Champions Cup fixture in Melbourne, Australia, against Melbourne Victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, the former AC Milan coach reportedly said:
"At the moment I can tell you that Pogba is a Juventus player. We don't know what is going to happen but Juventus will look after that, and I can tell you that we [have already signed] four first-class players in [Dani] Alves, [Miralem] Pjanic, [Marko] Pjaca and [Medhi] Benatia.
"Of course, from here until August 31, which is the end of the transfer market, anything can happen but I feel confident that at the end of August Juventus is going to have a good team that's going to be strong and be able to compete in all competitions.
"
Pogba has been heavily linked with a bumper £100 million move to Old Trafford this summer, with new manager Jose Mourinho interested in bringing the France international back to his former club, per L'Equipe (h/t the BBC).

Press Association's chief football writer Simon Peach quoted Mourinho on Thursday, with the Portuguese boss insisting he has other options available should the move for Pogba fall through:
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a prolific trophy-winning career with the Old Lady of Italian football, securing four Scudetto titles and two Coppa Italia trophies during his four seasons with the club.
He also helped the Turin club reach the final of the Champions League in 2014-15 and finished as runner-up to Portugal at the UEFA European Championship this summer.
