Manchester United Transfer News: Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Matteo Darmian Rumours
Borussia Dortmund reportedly want more for Henrikh Mkhitaryan than Manchester United are willing to spend on him.
According to German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten (h/t James Gray of the Express), £30 million is the Red Devils' limit on what they're prepared to part with to land the Armenian, but BVB won't settle for "any less than £32.6 million."
Per Sky Sport's Fabrizio Romano, the 27-year-old is hoping for the move to come off:

Indeed, per Bild (h/t Gray), his agent, Mino Raiola, recently confirmed as much: "Such an offer to join Manchester United might only come once in a lifetime for a player and nobody can guarantee us that the door will still be open for Micki next season. Manchester are Micki’s dream club, he wants to join them by any means."
Mkhitaryan was phenomenal in the season just gone, racking up 23 goals and 32 assists in all competitions—ostensibly from wide positions, though he's more than capable of playing centrally as well. The Bundesliga provided some of his impressive highlights:
ESPN's Alex Shaw and Stephan Uersfeld gave their take on his situation at Dortmund:
"@AlexShawESPN Experience. BVB's got a very young squad. But I can't see him perform when forcing him to stay.

The Red Devils' attacking play left much to be desired last season, their approach often slow and lacking in creativity.
Author and Bundesliga expert Lee Price (h/t Colin Harvey of the Daily Star) anticipates the deal will happen—and that £30 million will be enough:
"At 27, the German side know that Mkhitaryan is in his prime, and are willing to play hardball—even forcing him to see out the next twelve months of his deal.
They did the very same thing before Robert Lewandowski went to [Bayern] Munich.
But they also know that £30 million would represent a decent price, and a substantial amount to reinvest, so Jose [Mourinho] will likely get his way.
"
Indeed, while Dortmund are understandably reluctant to part with one of their best players, having seen a whole host of stars cherry-picked by Europe's top sides in recent years, it may be the best option for them to take the deal if they can't convince the Armenian to sign a new contract.
Equally, the difference in valuation isn't particularly significant, relatively speaking, so United may end up matching Dortmund's price to secure what would be a fantastic signing.
Meanwhile, Matteo Darmian is hoping to stay at Old Trafford despite reported interest from Juventus and Barcelona.

According to Rob Dawson of the Manchester Evening News, the Italian has been linked with both clubs but said: "Today I am a United player. I have a contract and I think I will continue next season. But I have not heard from Mourinho."
The 26-year-old did not enjoy the best first season in England and, per Dawson, started just five of the Red Devils' last 21 games of the campaign.
He did boast an impressive tackling record, though, per WhoScored.com:
Football writer Liam Canning believes he can improve with the Special One in charge:
It would seem premature to call time on Darmian's United career after just one campaign, particularly because his versatility allows him to play in a variety of positions if needed.
Expect him to still be at Old Trafford beyond this summer.
