Damian Jones to Warriors: Twitter Reacts as C Is Selected in 2016 NBA Draft
The Golden State Warriors are just days removed from losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, but they turned the page Thursday evening and directed their attention to the NBA draft.
With the 30th and final selection of the first round, the reigning Western Conference champions selected Vanderbilt Commodores center Damian Jones to help strengthen a frontcourt that could soon be in flux.
However, it's important to note Jones recently underwent surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle, according to The Vertical's Jonathan Givony.
Givony reported Jones is "expected to make a full recovery by the start of the NBA season," but NBC Sports' Michael Gallagher pointed out a trend regarding the team's thought process after it selected the banged-up Kevon Looney in 2015:
Once Commissioner Adam Silver made the pick official at the podium, Twitter reactions poured in from around the web.
The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears suggested the Warriors may have a steal on their hands if Jones lives up to his physical gifts:
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical indicated general manager Bob Myers snagged a talent who shouldn't have been available at the end of the first round:
Elsewhere, NOLA.com's Jeff Duncan believes Jones finding a home in the Bay Area will allow him to sit back and fine-tune his skills without being thrown to the wolves right away:
Here's a look at the best of the rest:
"I asked Kevin Stallings whether Damian Jones was similar to Festus Ezeli this season. He dismissed the question out of hand.

Jones likely won't make an immediate impact after averaging 13.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game last season, but he's a bouncy project who should give the team some long-term peace of mind.
Festus Ezeli is slated to become a restricted free agent this summer, and if the Warriors don't want to make a sizable financial commitment to the 26-year-old, Jones could be a strong replacement once he's acclimated to life in the NBA.
