Morgan Schneiderlin Replaces Lassana Diarra on France's Euro 2016 Squad
Manchester United's Morgan Schneiderlin has been called up to join France's UEFA Euro 2016 squad after Olympique Marseille's Lassana Diarra dropped out because of injury.
The team's official Twitter account (h/t Bleacher Report's Jonathan Johnson) confirmed the news on Tuesday.
Per the team's statement, Diarra suffered an injury to his left knee. The 31-year-old enjoyed a fine first season back in France with Marseille, making the Ligue 1 team of the year, per French Football Daily. ESPN FC's Michael Yokhin thinks Schneiderlin might be an improvement, however:

Schneiderlin moved to United last summer after an impressive spell with Southampton, but his first season at Old Trafford didn't play out as he planned. The 26-year-old was supposed to form a powerful midfield duo with Bastian Schweinsteiger, but the latter was held back by injuries and the former struggled for consistency.
One year ago, Schneiderlin would have been a lock to make the squad, and Simon Peach of the Press Association couldn't help but marvel at his plunge down the pecking order:
Diarra started in France's 3-2 win over Cameroon on Monday and was expected to be a starter during Euro 2016, alongside Juventus' Paul Pogba and Paris Saint-Germain's Blaise Matuidi. Leicester City's N'Golo Kante will likely replace him in the starting XI.
Schneiderlin will add another element of physicality to France's midfield, although he's not likely to get the starting nod over Kante, who enjoyed a phenomenal season with the Foxes.
