Jack Wilshere Questions Arsene Wenger over Arsenal Positioning, Talks England
Jack Wilshere has questioned Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's decision to play him out on the flank recently when he is "not a wide man," hinting at a lack of faith from the Gunners boss to utilise him in the middle of the park.
The Englishman is used as a central midfielder by national team coach Roy Hodgson, and he is likely to be deployed in the Three Lions' engine room at the summer's Euro 2016 despite a lack of recent playing time.
In his first start of the season for Arsenal on the final day of the 2015-16 Premier League term against Aston Villa, Wenger started Wilshere on the right wing, a position the 24-year-old said he is less comfortable in, per Jack Gaughan in the Daily Mail:

"With Arsenal I've been playing out wide, which is not me. I'm not a wide man, but Roy seems to have faith in me in the middle, so I'm happy with that."

As Gaughan noted in his report, Wilshere has been regularly sidelined recently through injury and has appeared only 12 times for club and country since November 2014.
As a result, many questioned his inclusion in Hodgson's provisional 26-man squad for the Euros—and highly likely place in the final 23—especially given the England manager's reasoning for not including Theo Walcott, per Bleacher Report UK:
However, Wilshere has been excellent for Hodgson during his four-year tenure as England boss and the pair clearly have a good relationship.
The Gunners star revealed that he was in regular contact with Hodgson during his recent injury lay-off as the former Fulham and Liverpool boss kept track of his progress, per Gaughan:
"We spoke quite a lot and I knew what he wanted for me and he made that clear to me. That helped me.
He wasn't giving me any deadlines, he was just keeping track of me and things like that.
I've been training for seven or eight weeks, so pre-season isn't [even] that long. The most important thing for me now is to get games and to get that match sharpness.
I've worked with Roy now and his staff for a number of years and they know what I bring and I know what they want from me as well. I think we had to rebuild after the World Cup and I was quite a big part of that.
"
England bounced back from their humiliating group-stage exit at the 2014 World Cup by winning all 10 of their qualifying matches for Euro 2016.
Per Sky Sports' Adam Bate, Wilshere played a vital role in England's perfect run, and he has been rewarded for his contribution in the national team despite his recent injury worries:
Should he stay fit, he will play a key role as England look to go deep at the France tournament.
It is clear that Wilshere relishes playing in the middle where he can control the tempo of the game, and Hodgson is likely to afford him that opportunity at the Euros despite Wenger playing him in a wide position most recently.
