Manchester United Logs Joint-Lowest Win Total in Premier League Era
Manchester United won just 19 league matches in 2015-16, tying a club record (2013-14) for fewest wins in a single season during the Premier League era, per ESPN Stats & Info.
Manager Louis van Gaal was fired following the disappointing campaign despite winning the FA Cup.
Van Gaal will be remembered for arriving at Old Trafford fresh off a semi-final appearance in the 2014 FIFA World Cup with the Netherlands and subsequently returning United to the UEFA Champions League in his first season.

Unfortunately, the manager's second season didn't turn out as well as his first, with United finishing fifth in the standings. As a result, the Red Devils are set to play in the UEFA Europa League next season.
Following 13 Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson, finishing fourth or lower in two straight seasons didn't sit well with management, especially because Van Gaal was also ridiculed for transforming United's traditionally attacking style of play into a chess match of sorts.
In 2016-17, however, Jose Mourinho will be the man leading United—according to Sky Sports, the Portuguese will sign for the Red Devils "by Friday."
Mourinho won the Premier League three times with Chelsea (2004-05, 2005-06 and 2014-15), and his first job will be to regain the club's Champions League status.
For now, the club will need to continue its rebuilding process, as United are no longer one of the top teams in Europe.
