DeMarre Carroll Suffers Ankle Injury vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Toronto Raptors forward DeMarre Carroll suffered a left ankle sprain Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks and did not return.
The Raptors announced the injury on their official Twitter account.
Carroll has missed five games due to injury this season following a 2015-16 campaign that saw him sit out the majority of Toronto's contests.
Carroll appeared in only 26 games throughout last season because of a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery. He returned in time for the playoffs but suffered a wrist injury during Game 5 of Toronto's second-round playoff series against the Miami Heat.
The injuries limited his impact, though he still averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
He is currently averaging 9.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest in 2016-17.
When he is healthy and playing up to his potential, Carroll can shoot the three, slash to the lane and provide solid defense on the wing.
The one silver lining for Toronto is the fact it grew accustomed to playing without Carroll on the floor in 2015-16. DeMar DeRozan is capable of carrying the offense, and the newly acquired P.J. Tucker will likely see more minutes on the wing in Carroll's absence.
While the Raptors are a better team with Carroll healthy and on the floor, they are equipped to survive at least a short-term setback.
