Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Bradford first demanded a trade after Philadelphia traded up to the No. 2 pick in this year's draft and selected North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz.
Bradford, 28, signed a two-year, $35 million contract with the Eagles this offseason, and the team has regularly maintained that he will remain the starter for the 2016 season despite selecting Wentz.
But per ESPN.com, "Condon had indicated that Bradford would skip all of the team's voluntary workouts and organized team activities leading up to a mandatory June minicamp."
Instead, Bradford missed only voluntary workouts, and "Condon said his client is committed to playing for the Eagles in 2016 and fulfilling his contract."
Bradford threw for 3,725 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games last season under former head coach Chip Kelly after the Eagles acquired him last offseason from the then-St. Louis Rams. But the selection of Wentz clearly makes his future in Philadelphia temporary at best.
For the Eagles, the best-case scenario is that Bradford plays well enough this year to create a vibrant trade market for his services before next season, when Wentz will likely be ready to take over as the starter. The Birds could then trade Bradford to recoup some of the draft picks they gave up to the Cleveland Browns when trading up to No. 2 this year.
Sitting for a season remains the ideal situation for Wentz, though it is possible he could show enough this offseason to challenge Bradford for the starting gig. But the Eagles, at least publicly, have remained committed to Bradford as their starter for the 2016 season.
