Manchester United Transfer News: Kacper Chorazka Race Won Amid Liverpool Rumours

Rory MarsdenMay 5, 2016

Manchester United look set to win the race to sign Polish goalkeeper Kacper Chorazka, beating Liverpool, Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur to the 17-year-old's signature.

The Wisla Krakow stopper spent time trialling at Ibrox earlier this season with Rangers, but his father, Artur Chorazka, said they could not pass on the opportunity to join United, who have invited the youngster to the club later this month, per Mark Walker in the Sun.

"Spurs, Liverpool and clubs in Italy and Germany were interested too. But when you get an offer from a club like Manchester United, you cannot say no. If the clubs reach an agreement then great, but the priority is to develop him as a 'keeper," Artur Chorazka said.

Clearly United are looking to bolster their academy ranks and are expected to "tie up deals" for Zurich striker Nishan Burkart and Feyenoord's Tahith Chong after sealing moves for right-back Lee O'Connor and Matthew Olosunde, per the Manchester Evening News's Samuel Luckhurst:

Academy head of coaching Nicky Butt explained United were looking to attract the best talent from the continent, per Luckhurst:

"

We’re short on a few numbers in the different age groups and it’s something we need to address. Something we are addressing and something we will hopefully get over the line in the next few weeks, in time for next season.

It’s the same as any other club. We all want to attract the best young players in Europe, at whatever age, and we’re exactly the same. We want to attract the best players we can from all over Europe and bring them into what we feel is already a great set-up.

"

Chorazka is an exciting goalkeeping prospect and is said to have "impressed" during his time with Rangers, per Walker.

United are currently well set in the goalkeeping department in the senior side with No. 1 David De Gea one of the best in the world—he recently won the Red Devils' Player of the Year award for the third season running, per BreatheSport:

Argentinian Sergio Romero is a very accomplished back-up, but as Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have shown this season, there are opportunities at United to advance from the youth ranks.

Chorazka will look to impress Butt in the academy—assuming his move goes through—and develop as a goalkeeper.

He will hope to have a long career ahead of him and could yet be 25-year-old De Gea's successor at the Manchester club if and when the Spaniard decides to depart.
