Jeff Hafley Reveals Eagles Knew Packers Blitz Packages from Fan Videos Recorded at Training Camp

Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley and passing game coordinator Kevin Patullo are on the same side now, but they were on opposing coaching staffs for the 2024 season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers.

And Patullo's Eagles got the best of Hafley's Packers with a little help from fans video taping Green Bay's training camp.

Hafley, who was Green Bay's defensive coordinator that season, told reporters Thursday that Patullo, who was then Philadelphia's passing game coordinator, revealed to him the Eagles had half of the Packers' blitz packages from fan recordings at training camp that were then posted online.

"We had a pressure that I had never run, so there's no way he could've known about it," Hafley said. "And they knew it was coming. (Kevin) said they saw that pressure on video."

Notably, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker was also on Philadelphia's staff that season and also warned about filming at practice during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan (h/t Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News).

"Once you get past Game 3 or 4, everything is on tape," Parker said. "When you're in Week 1 or 2, you're looking for things. So actually, I don't know if people realize this, I was following some of our media members and stuff even before I got [to the Cowboys] because when I was in Green Bay and Denver and Philadelphia, I've played Dallas in all three spots, us kinda trying to look for things."

Philadelphia's offense had no trouble exploiting the Green Bay defense during the 34-29 victory in that 2024 opener. Saquon Barkley had three touchdowns, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith combined for 203 receiving yards, and Jalen Hurts finished with 278 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

The Packers managed two sacks, but their defense struggled to get off the field throughout the contest.

It set the tone for the Eagles, who went 14-3 during the regular season before defeating the Packers again in the playoffs on their way to a Super Bowl title. Barkley ran for 2,005 yards as the Offensive Player of the Year, while Hurts finished with 32 total touchdowns with his arm and legs.

And now with some of the assistant coaches from that championship team elsewhere, they are warning against the issues that come with filming during training camp and practice.
