DeRozan Passes Vince Carter as Raptors' All-Time Leading Playoff Scorer
Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan passed Vince Carter to become the franchise's all-time leading playoff scorer during Tuesday's 102-96 overtime loss to the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, per Sportsnet Stats.
Despite reaching the milestone, DeRozan didn't have a particularly efficient outing, making just nine of his 22 field-goal attempts and four of his six free throws to finish with 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal and two turnovers in 42 minutes.
He also struggled during a seven-game first-round series against the Indiana Pacers, averaging 17.9 points, 3.6 boards, 2.6 dimes, 1.6 steals and 2.7 turnovers, with a field-goal percentage of just 31.9 and a three-point percentage of 16.7.
Backcourt mate Kyle Lowry didn't fare any better, averaging 13.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.9 turnovers while making just 31.6 percent of his field-goal attempts and 16.3 percent of his three-point tries.
Lowry's playoff struggles continued Tuesday, as he managed just seven points, four boards, six assists, three steals and three turnovers in 43 minutes, though he did hit a buzzer-beater from around halfcourt to send the contest into overtime.
With both of their star players struggling, the Raptors unsurprisingly came up short in the extra period, getting outscored 12-6 despite holding home-court advantage.
Toronto now looks ahead to a pivotal Game 2 on Thursday, with Miami having the chance to take a 2-0 lead while starting the series on the road.
