The Young Bucks Talk Ring of Honor, WWE NXT, Bullet Club and More

Donald WoodMay 4, 2016

There is a renaissance in tag team wrestling across the world, and fans have The Young Bucks to thank in part for that recent success.

The Young Bucks—comprised of the brothers Matt and Nick Jackson—have risen to stardom as a headlining act in top promotions such as Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling and PWG, and even casual wrestling fans know who the team is thanks to the mainstream success of the Bullet Club stable.

During a media appearance heading into Ring of Honor’s next pay-per-view event, Global Wars, on Sunday, May 8, The Young Bucks recently spoke with Ring Rust Radio about their success in Ring of Honor and the fun they have working with the company, possibly signing with WWE’s NXT in the future, the dominance of the Bullet Club and much more.

While the Jackson brothers have found success in every company they have worked for, the fans of The Young Bucks in the United States have been able to see every step of the tandem’s rise to the top of the card on Ring of Honor’s weekly television show and on PPVs.

When asked about what it means to work for ROH and what people who have never seen them perform should expect from the duo, Nick Jackson spoke honestly about how The Young Bucks step it up during PPVs and the biggest events:

"

Man you know what, it's always a blast when Ring of Honor does pay-per-view shows. There’s always an element where Matt and I say, ‘Hey, you know what? Let's go balls to the wall,’ so to speak, and do a lot more because a lot more eyeballs are on the product. So, for a pay-per-view match, we’ll do a little more, a little more crazy I guess you could say.

"

The Young Bucks have been thriving in Ring of Honor and New Japan for several years, but wrestling fans are naturally curious about what would happen if the brothers ended up in WWE as part of the main roster or the NXT brand.

When asked about dream matches in the future for The Young Bucks, Matt Jackson heaped praise on the teams in ROH, but also talked about the recent success and depth in the WWE’s tag team division:

"

And then if we're talking possible down the line dream matches, I hear there are a couple good tag teams down in NXT that I’d love to wrestle. On Raw, I'd love to wrestle New Day, I'd love to wrestle The Usos, man it would be fun to wrestle Machine Gun and Gallows. We never even got to do that. That would be the Bullet Club colliding. There's a lot of interesting matches that I’m sure that will happen down the line.

"

One of the reasons fans want to see The Young Bucks eventually make the jump to WWE is the success of former Bullet club members like AJ Styles, Finn Balor and the tag team of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on the main roster.

The Bullet Club has transcended independent wrestling and become one of the most popular stables in wrestling history. While the group has changed drastically, the iconic logo and the popularity of the members has not wavered.

Nick Jackson was asked about the popularity of the Bullet Club and what it meant for the careers of The Young Bucks, and he spoke about how the group helped usher in the most successful time in their careers:

"

Oh man, the Bullet Club is probably the biggest thing that we will ever do. All the members originally talked about it too. We knew it was huge when it was starting to get momentum in its first year-and-a-half, and we were like, ‘Guys, we have to try to enjoy this movement, this moment, because it is bigger than us.’ We really felt that way. And we realized it was growing our brand as well when the merchandise sales were just going nuts. Probably our No. 1-selling shirt of all time is the superkick party parody of the Bullet Club logo. And man, we've sold thousands of them, which is just crazy. But it's because of how popular the Bullet Club brand is and was.

"

As two of the best in-ring workers in the history of tag team wrestling, The Young Bucks will continue to be fan favorites for the remainder of their careers. As two brothers who love wrestling and have fun doing their job in the ring, the fans naturally feel that joy and can thoroughly enjoy the product.

The Young Bucks carry themselves with a confidence that some people take as arrogance, but with a family-first mentality and unquestionable business savvy, the Jackson brothers have built a brand on their own and are thriving in the industry.

Whether the future of The Young Bucks consists of a starring role in Ring of Honor, New Japan and PWG or the duo eventually signs with WWE, there is no doubt that the tandem will continue thrilling wrestling fans for the remainder of their careers.
