David Ortiz, A-Rod Make Night Special for Young Red Sox Fan Whose Dad Died
Most stories that come out of the Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees rivalry are adversarial.
This one, however, is the opposite of that. On Friday night, superstars from both teams came together to help make the night of one young fan.
According to Chris Landers of Cut4, Red Sox fan Andy Moss once promised to take his son David to Fenway Park to see slugger David Ortiz in action. Andy died of cancer in September, but his son made the trip with his mother and sister.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Young David had an opportunity to meet Ortiz during batting practice, and later, he got himself a pretty sweet souvenir.
Per Landers, David asked Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez for a favor ahead of his second-inning at-bat: "I asked if I could have his bat. He said, 'If I hit a home run, you can have my bat.'"
Wouldn't you know it—A-Rod stepped to the plate, hit a solo shot and promptly delivered the bat to its rightful new owner.
The Red Sox won the game on the strength of an eighth-inning home run from (who else?) Ortiz.
