Austin Rivers Injury: Updates on Clippers Guard's Possible Concussion and Return

According to the Orange County Register's Dan Woike, Rivers "took an accidental left elbow from Terrance Jones and stayed on the ground for a bit."
The Clippers later said Rivers was being "evaluated" and announced he had been ruled out for the remainder of the game, per Woike.
Rivers suffered a nasty cut above his left eye in Game 6 of the Clippers' first-round playoff loss against the Portland Trail Blazers after colliding with Al-Farouq Aminu last year, though it didn't cost him any games.
The former Duke star hasn't been the most durable player, reaching 69 games only twice in four seasons, though the Clippers have found ways to maximize his talent off the bench. He averaged a career-high 8.9 points per game and shot a career-best 43.8 percent from the field in 2015-16.
Last season, the Clippers used Rivers as a backup to Chris Paul, who has racked up an array of injuries in recent years with the 2014-15 season being the only time in the last four years he's reached 75 games.
Paul remains one of the NBA's best point guards, but Los Angeles head coach Doc Rivers knows the importance of having depth at the position because of the injuries to the All-Star in recent years.
Rivers' past and present injury woes make him a hard player to depend on consistently, but he's carved out a niche when healthy.
