Bullock Out vs. Cavaliers
Sunday, April 24
David Mayo of MLive.com reported Bullock will not play against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4.
Bullock's Absence to Create More Minutes for Johnson
Bullock has averaged 11 minutes per game in the playoffs, scoring six points per contest and missing only one shot attempt (5-of-6) in the first round.
Bullock came off the bench for both of Detroit's road games in Cleveland but played 12 minutes in the Pistons' 107-90 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2.
The 11.6 minutes he averaged in 37 regular-season games this year were a career high, as was his 41.5 percent mark from three-point range.
Bullock closed the regular season strong and has carried that production into the playoffs. He made three three-pointers in the regular-season finale against Cleveland and followed that up with two more in 10 minutes in Game 1 on April 17.
Though he doesn't play many minutes, the Pistons will lose a capable three-point shooter off the bench. Rookie Stanley Johnson has averaged 19 minutes per game in the early stages of the playoffs, so expect him to see more time as the primary backup for Tobias Harris.
If the Pistons don't want to tax Johnson too much in terms of minutes, rookie Darrun Hilliard could see some playing time. Detroit's second-round pick has not played in the postseason so far, but he shot 38 percent from three-point range in the regular season.
Detroit's offense has played well thanks to its long-range shooting. The Pistons will have to continue with that attack if they want to compete with the Cavaliers, and losing Bullock could be an issue down the stretch for the Pistons.
