WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from April 20
Fresh off a second defeat at the hands of NXT champion Finn Balor, an aggressive and intense Samoa Joe entered the squared circle for a match with Apollo Crews Wednesday night and wasted little time in establishing dominance and snatching the "biggest winner" status away from the others who appeared on the broadcast.
Joe was portrayed as an unstoppable force, a beast of a competitor who demolished Crews and is now a main roster star. He ran over him like a freight train en route to a submission win and once again solidified himself as the greatest threat to Finn Balor's status as NXT champion.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
The former Ring of Honor and TNA world heavyweight champion was the most obvious winner from the April 20 episode of NXT, but he was not the only one. An unsigned female competitor had her narrative strengthened, and the tag team champions suplexed their way to another signature victory.
Then there was the biggest loser, a brand-new competitor making his first appearance on NXT TV. For him, the show is best left forgotten.

Winner: Deonna Purrazzo
Raven-haired underdog Deonna Purrazzo has appeared on NXT television countless times before, typically enduring squash losses to the likes of Dana Brooke, Emma and Asuka. Wednesday night, she suffered a similar fate, but that has nothing to do with her status as a winner coming out of the latest show.
As the underdog who demonstrates great heart and courage every week, she has become the lovable loser of sorts. As Corey Graves and Tom Phillips mentioned on the broadcast, she simply has bad luck, running into opponents at their angriest or most determined to win.
In many ways, she has developed into the 1-2-3 Kid, a star fans have seen beaten down and defeated so often there is a bit of sympathy that one naturally feels for her. Thus, when she finally scores that one monumental upset victory, fans will erupt into a joyous ovation for her.
While showing up at every set of tapings and being beaten may not be all that appealing to most, for Purrazzo, it is the long road to stardom.
That is, if NXT management opts to head in that direction.
Loser: No Way Jose
The debut of No Way Jose confirmed every major issue one feared the moment the character was teased. It was racially charged, over-the-top ridiculous and a living, breathing cartoon that would have fit early 1990s WWE better than the most revolutionary brand in today's wrestling landscape.
Add to that an in-ring performance that would not excite fans of Sunday Night Heat, let alone the hottest show in professional wrestling, and you have a disastrous beginning to a career that otherwise had plenty of potential to be something special.
The entrance, the dancing and the stupid, illogical finisher—a wind-up punch to the face—all failed to generate anything that could even be construed as excitement.
An act that jumped the shark right out of the gate, No Way Jose seems destined to become the latest CJ Parker, and that is unfortunate for the young man behind the gimmick.
Winners: American Alpha
Chad Gable and Jason Jordan earned their biggest victory to date Wednesday when they defeated Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady cleanly, earning the credibility that comes from defeating the most popular tandem in NXT history.
The Grand Amplitude that put Amore away served as the passing of the torch of sorts, as Amore and Cassady tipped their cap to the team that will carry the mantle going forward.
Jordan and Gable were clearly the superior team, at least from an in-ring perspective, wrestling circles around their opponents en route to a win that, months from now, could well define their reign as champions.
